< ICeNd >
We are ICeNd - a newborn startup with an ambition to be the next generation leader in artificial lives (AL). We created sub-25 nm nanofluidic channels, quantum materials, and physics-driven AI as building blocks of artificial lives. Nanofluidics runs water transport in tree, moves muscles in animals, and processes molecules through cellular nanopores. ICeNd aims to commericialise sustainable AL with nanofluidics, quantum materials, and quantum mechanical softwares. The application of AL are molecular processing, on-site molecular diagnostics and therapy, and energy material discovery. This is possible in conjunction with the Nobel prize winning achievements of superresolution optical microscopy and high resolution transmission electron microscopy.
While our vision of AL is futuristic for the sustainability of humanity on earth and outside earth, the individual building blocks of the AL have highly demanding markets. Universal Nanodevices® or UNanoD® enable real-time molecular studies for drug discovery, structural biology, material discovery, and pollution sensing at the precision of single molecule level. UNanoD Fluid is at TRL8 performing real-time single molecule detection with photons and electrons. UNanoD Solid is at TRL6 performing real-time nano-mechano-electrical signals.
While we are backed up by top notch international knowledge partners, such as University of Cambridge, Harvard University, University of Oxford, and Max Planck Institutes, our local collaborations in The Netherlands with Thermo Fisher Scientific Eindhoven, Leiden University and Utrecht University strengthen our technological and business base in Eindhoven.

ICeNd is an equal-opportunity organisation
Introduction
ICeNd, a deep tech startup is committed to fostering a work environment that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. We believe that gender equality is not just the right thing to do, but also essential for our continued success and innovation. This Gender Equality Plan (GEP) outlines our comprehensive strategy for achieving gender equality within our organization.
Publication
This GEP is a formal document published on ICeNd's website and signed by the CEO on behalf of the company's leadership team.
Dedicated Resources:
We are committed to dedicating the necessary human resources and gender expertise to implement this plan effectively. This includes:
Appointing a Gender Equality Officer to oversee the implementation of the GEP.
Partnering with external experts on gender equality issues as needed.
Allocating budget resources for training programs and initiatives.
Data Collection and Monitoring:
We will collect and analyse sex/gender disaggregated data on our personnel (including employees and potential hires) on an annual basis. This data will be used to track progress towards our gender equality goals and identify areas for improvement. We will also develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to gender equality, such as:
Percentage of women in leadership positions
Gender pay gap
Ratio of male to female applicants and hires
Training
We will provide mandatory awareness-raising training on gender equality and unconscious gender bias for all staff and decision-makers. This training will help to:
Increase awareness of gender equality issues
Reduce unconscious bias in recruitment, promotion, and performance evaluation processes
Foster a more inclusive work environment
Content-wise Areas Addressed
1. Work-Life Balance and Organizational Culture:
We will offer flexible work arrangements, such as remote work options and compressed workweeks, to support work-life balance for all employees.
We will create a company culture that is respectful, inclusive, and free from harassment or discrimination.
We will organize events and activities that promote gender equality and celebrate the achievements of women.
2. Gender Balance in Leadership and Decision-Making:
We will set clear targets for increasing the representation of women in leadership positions.
We will develop and implement mentorship and sponsorship programs to support the career advancement of women.
We will ensure that women have a strong voice in decision-making processes.
3. Gender Equality in Recruitment and Career Progression:
We will develop gender-neutral job descriptions and recruitment processes.
We will use diverse interview panels that include women.
We will provide equal opportunities for training and development for all employees.
We will implement a clear and fair promotion process based on merit.
5. Measures Against Gender-Based Violence and Sexual Harassment:
We have a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of gender-based violence and sexual harassment.
We will provide clear channels for reporting incidents of harassment or violence.
We will investigate all reported incidents promptly and fairly.
We will provide support services to victims of harassment or violence.
